Die Zauberflöte, von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - 11.06.2027, 19:00 – 22:00 | Staatsoper Stuttgart · Staatsoper Stuttgart

architect Max Littmann · 1404 seats

Staatsoper Stuttgart, Stuttgart (DE) stages Mozart's Die Zauberflöte: 2 performances between 2026-07-13 and 2027-06-11.

About the house

Stuttgart's opera house is the work of Max Littmann, who won the competition to build new royal theatres for the Kingdom of Württemberg and delivered a pair of them between 1909 and 1912, the Großes Haus and the Kleines Haus. In its opening year the complex hosted the world premiere of Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. The Kleines Haus was destroyed in the Second World War; the columned Großes Haus survived and is regarded as the only major German opera house of its era preserved essentially in its original state, a listed monument beside the Eckensee lake in the palace gardens.

Today the 1,404 seat auditorium, admired for its acoustics and clear sightlines, is home to one of Europe's most adventurous companies. Critics have voted Staatsoper Stuttgart Opera House of the Year several times, and its chorus collects the equivalent title with striking regularity. Mozart holds a firm place in the repertoire, Die Zauberflöte among the titles that keep returning.
